Default Lets discuss motor mounts

Hey guys. I'm having PaulK here build me a 434 {4" stroke 400} to autoX and road race in my 1967 GTO. The car is a street car primarily but its going to get hammered on pretty good 4-6 times a year. I'm wondering what my options are for motor mounts. Can I get away with stock mounts and just make a strap from the frame to the driver cylinder head? Or will I need some kind of aftermarket mount? I was told Jim hand had some kind of stock mount modification. So what are my options? At what power levels do I need to step up?

Some people have experienced issues with fitment, by I love my Butler poly mounts. They bolted right in on my 69.

You will be fine with stock mounts and a chain or strap to the drivers side head. Until last season I ran with a bracket bolted to the head with a chain attached to it and the other end was attached to the frame. I was at 800hp. Never had a problem with it, beating on it nearly every weekend for 24 years. I think I did change the mounts once in that time period. Last year I finally switched to a front motor plate.

I'd go with the Poly mount on the engine and tranny, road racing you're going to get some big time wheel hop from time to time downshifting, so with up and down shifting you'll eventually overstress the rubber mounts.
Worth the extra costs up front.

I did basically same thing but added a turnbuckle. That let me put a minimal amount of slack in chain so mount could absorb vibration.

I'd suppose doing same thing on other side wouldnt be a bad idea if you did alot of hard down shifting with a stick car.

ho428, is that what you are running for motor mounts? I plan on doing the same thing as Nick but with my 70 T/A and will have a similar motor build once completed.
Nick, excited to see your build come together, should be quite the package once completed!
