Default I had surgery, bored and what about M21 69 GP cars

So since I had hernia surgery a few days ago. Limited to what can do no lifting and somewhat house bound. All this adds up to = Heavy Boredom .
So I come here to this 69-77 forum everyday looking for some interesting thread to read.
None new really happening .

If can help me be less bored. Here we go.

So there was just 30 1969 Grand Prix M21 cars built with 3.90 posi.
That being J and SJ cars total !!

22 were the L75 (428HO) cars
6 were the L79 (428 ) cars
And yes only 2 were the 400 cars !!

On a previous thread seen one person had 428 HO M21 car.

Tell what you have or have ever seen one of these cars or know of one ?
Pics are always nice too.

Thanks Dave

Default Saw one

Vague memories of a 428 4 speed car in Hague Saskatchewan in the early 1990s. Was buying Oldsmobile parts from a fellow and he had said GP in his yard that day.

Crisp memories of a fella parting out a 455 HO 4-speed SJ GP in the late 80's. Forgot what i bought, but was saying that he ought to keep it together because it was a valuable thingy. He said he knew but just didn't care about the future value. Lacked intellect?

Think i got a delco stereo. All else was to rich for my "spare parts" interest.

Really though 69-70's were the same except for some small grill light or tail light feature.

A long ago pack of pontiac friends had one fella driving a Tan/gold 69 GP;great car but he wrote it off when he discovered the upper rear shock tower (frame) rusted out and busted, as an Inspection fail.
I failed to convince him that it was repairable.

What kind of hernia? I'm going in tomorrow morning for one and to be honest I am terrified. I hate the thoughts of it. How much pain and recovery time? I guess I'll be bored with you for a time. There are not many pain meds I can take, so I guess I will need to ride this one out without any. The doc told me it will be like being kicked in the nuts all day every day for about 2 weeks. Not looking forward to that.

The first hernia op I had early 90's was terrible. I walked like a 80- year old for days.
I had triple done 1 right 1 left side and one in my belly button about 15 years ago and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

There was a 69 GP here until the 80's, Matador red, white vinyl buckets and top with an HO and 4 speed with 3.90's low option car. It ended up being parted because of rust in the late 80's. I bought the power train from the guy and sold most of it off, still have the manifolds from that car, too crusty to use but too neat to toss. I remember opening up the diff, it had forged axles, never seen that before on a 10 bolt

John,
Did you end up selling motor to a GP guy or someone to just use motor ?
So it was a 4 speed car for sure, not TH 400?
Keep rear differential ?

I sold the engine and trans to some guy who was using it in a mid 70's TA, that's why I still have the exhaust manifolds. The engine was so crusty you could barely make out the "62"s on the heads but the engine code was correct for the HO 4 SPD combo. I sold the posi to a GTO guy and I used the axles when I had a rear wheel bearing go bad and munch an axle in a 68 GTO I had back in the 80's. I still have the crusty air cleaner in my parts room somewhere (he had swapped in a dual snorkel from a 69 GTO).

Can you tell me the length on the snorkel on that single HO cleaner ?
Not certain on what is correct?

Thanks Dave
