57 Chieftain
Thought I'd share a few photos of my 57 Chieftain. Getting it ready for the nostalgia drags in Bradenton, FL tomorrow. Original 347 tripower car.

Very cool...love it. Stick or auto? Good luck at the drags!

Nice!
I'll make an "educated guess"- 14.3 sec/94 MPH. If tires are really "sticky" and 4.56 or more gear, 14.1 sec.

One of the best looking cars Pontiac ever made.

Nice looking car, but then I might be somewhat biased.

I too like the 57 Pontiacs. I'm hoping to buy one on my next trip to America. I missed buying one last month when I was there .

Sorry for the delay getting back on the board. As far as the timing slip, had a few carb issues, which are now solved. Also I haven't changed the gear yet, still running the 3.42. I will be installing the 4.11 next weekend. I hope to improve on the very pedestrian 15.4 time. I'd like to install an old B&M hydro if I can I find one. Thanks guys.

I believe that the published figures back in '57 were in that ballpark.

What wheels and tires are you running (size and backspacing)?

The front tires are 6.70-15 bias ply firestones with 5 inch wide 5x5 stock steel reproduction wheels. the rear tires are Towel City pie crust slicks, 15x8. The rear wheels are 6 inch wide, 5x5. Not sure what they are from, look like 55 Olds but not sure they made a 6 inch rim in 55. We reversed the rear wheels. I can't remember the offset. I'll measure this weekend. They have a 2 1/2 inch back spacing. The valve stem is now on the inside of the rim. My original thought was to have real chrome reverse rims, but i really like them painted. Any thoughts.

Super-nice car, one of my faves here on the forums.
That green metalflake steering wheel is just icing on the cake.

My 55 wheels are 5.5" wide. but made some 15 x 8 wheels using Chevy truck 15 x8 shells. Kinda hard to find but used a Ford center for my bolt pattern and reversed them . Could just weld the clips in for the poverty caps.
