A "310" is not a "nailhead" , but a 300cid engine based loosely on the 215 cid engine.

It's not an aluminum block either.

If I remember right (???) the '66 Buick LeSabre I had used a switch-pitch torque converter. I don't recall GM's name for the transmission. It think it had the 340 V8, and the transmission worked well- even though it was just a 2-speed. Buick may have called it a 3-speed, since the torque converter provided extra torque multiplication under certain conditions (starting from a standstill, flooring the throttle, etc.).

I liked the nailhead in my '61 Invicta much better- 345HP 401.

P.S.- Maybe "Super Turbine" trans?

Trans is a SP300.

Place that engine/trans on Buick Swap Meet page on Facebook for more exposure.
