Default Outer Tie Rod Ends

Yeah so the threads are boogered I guess from over aggressive removal on my 64 Tempest and they just spin when you try to replace the nut. I ordered two moog ones. Cheaper than I thought. If I thread the old ones out and thread the new ones in as closely as possible to the old ones how long can I get by before an alignment because its just not in the budget right now?

If the old t/rod is still attached to the adjuster sleeve, temporarily attach t/rod. Measure the distance from the centre of the tapered thread on the inner t/rod to the centrte of tapered thread on the damaged t/rod. Probably be about 16-19". Fit new t/rod & adjust to this dimension for ball park figure.

If you remove the tie rod with the weight on the front wheels so the wheel will not turn you can put the new tie rod on and it will be almost exact.
