Default 1967 Firebird 400 A.I.R. system

I'm trying to put my 67 400 MT, MB, MS Firebird back to original. It is a WU code CA A.I.R. car.

Can someone provide information on the A.I.R. system? Part numbers for pump, pulleys, belts, etc?

Does anyone have a complete system they would sell?

Any pictures of this installed?

Is the alternator bracket different? If yes, then why? Is the rear alt bracket the same as the usual one that is attached to the water neck?

Any help much appreciated.

I have an almost identical 67 400 Firebird. The alternator bracket for manual steering is different. You can see a good pic of one on Frank's Auto Parts website.

Awesome! Can you provide more pics from different angles? Do you have the 7037273 ca air carb? I found a 7027273 carb.

Unfortunately I dont have anymore pics and the car is apart now. The AIR setup is identical on the Lemans/GTO. Do an internet search and you will find pics.

And I have spent years looking for the 7037273 AIR carb-!. I bought the car as a basket case in 1992 and the carb was missing. That carb is pricey if you can find one. And worse, certain carb shops can make new round alum carb tags, then you need an expert to tell is it real or Memorex?

And you will need the unique 67 air cleaner that provides filtered air to the smog pump. Sometimes Frank's Auto Parts has that one.

The AIR setups come up for sale regularly on ebay.

it attaches to drivers side head similar to normal alt bracket.

My 67 400 is Cameo white with black deluxe interior, 3 spd manual trans, manual front disk brakes, manual steering, no air. What is the color of yours?

If I had a chance to walk into a Pontiac showroom in 1967, I would ordered this car almost identical except get the 4 spd trans and hood tach, and of course ram air, haha

I was trying to figure out how all this smog stiff went on today. I think I kinda get it. I think I actually have the correct alt front bracket. I didn't think it was right since it looks do weird. I am missing some of the bills so that will be fun to find. I don't have any current pics of the body.

Your car is looking good~! Alternator bracket is on correct. The trick is finding the long belt for it.

The air cleaners are both for a.I.r. But they have different numbers. Anyone know what the 6423411 and the x23209(number missing?) are off of?

Sent you a pm Fast.

I found a GTO restoration guide that listed:
6423209 standard air cleaner
6423211 heavy duty air cleaner

I havent found anything yet listing Firebird part numbers

First Generation Firebird Site estimates there were 1,500 Firebird 400 A.I.R. cars built, no wonder we cant find the carb

oops, i got the numbers backwards, 209 is the heavy duty

I would just use the best A.I.R. air cleaner you have. Almost nobody is going to know those part numbers.

part number on mine is 6424826, it was on a Firebird, but I am not sure it was original

I had a '67 Firebird 400 A.I.R. car from '85 to '98. Matching numbers everything, ... EXCEPT for the original carb. I searched for one for a long time (in the pre-internet era...) but finally settled for a 49-state carb....

For most of the time I owned it, I never really understood why mine had the "'68 style" air cleaner while all the other '67s I saw (this being in Virginia) had the louvered chrome pancake style. But I bought the car from the original owner, and he swore (correctly I later learned) it had been on there from day one.

There was a WU motor for sale here recently and the guy wanted as much for it as a ram air motor not sure if it had the carb or not but even then the price was high. Can't see those carbs carrying the price of a ram air four speed carb.

Steve is that the correct alternator pulley in your first pic? Never seen a double grooved pulley on a car but would answer some questions. I have one sitting on a shelf that was on a regular 400 motor I picked up.
