Midwest Pontiacs? Like Missouri or Kansas? Wonder if those are Clay Phillips heads?

... the new CV-1.1's complete pair are $3500.00 ... they come std. with 2.15/1.73 valve set and flow in the 360's out of the box with 277cc intake port ... there has been a bunch of extra material added to the as cast head and the new porters casting as well, for multiple CNC port options, up to a 370cc runner with a 2.375 valve that goes 480cfm, and another nice upgrade is the ability to machine the new 1.1 heads for an 18 head bolt upgrade from a simple CNC program ...

... this is my 428 stock block combo, still used the ArmaSteel crankshaft and std. demension Pontiac rods, JE Pistons with 10.6 to 1 compression, Solid Roller with SD's full mega brace installed, my custom ex-SB2 Nascar headers flanged for the round port Pontiac, Roland Racing's new 2pc stud girdle with Comp's 1.7 Ultra rockers, this engine also had my new drive system hangin on it for testing and it performed perfectly, except for the Vac Pump, we ended up making the clearences too loose for this test, but that's being addressed currently for this engine's next dyno session ...

... The heads are a special set that i installed the CV-1.1's entry level CNC program, which bumps volume up to 290cc and this same head with our large valve big bore chamber actually goes almost 440cfm, but on the small 4.155 bore on this engine they flow 410cfm ...

... i've been a little concerned about the size of this port on 434c.i. at a fairly low compression, but further testing will show if i'm right or not, but this engine did not let us down as it made 715hp on 93 octane fuel and well under 30 degrees of total timing, the new CVI-1R finally got to be tested on this engine and unfortunately we did not have the matching CNC program for the ports in these heads, so it was run out of the box, which was quite a bit smaller than the CV-290 intake port being used, but we didn't have a choice and ran it anyways, this manifold actually extended the HP peak by 100rpm and lowered the torque peak 400rpm over the other prototype manifold that i originally built for the 428, which is a really nice piece in it's own right, so we were very pleased with the CVI-1R's results...

... but we're looking forward to testing this engine further with a different set of heads and see what she does ...

Glad to see the new CV1.1 head is taking shape. On my CV1.0's I was able to make 906hp on my 535 with the standard low rise intake & 1050(gas) so for many that my be all they need. On the other hand the "R" manifold (only port matched) gave us 940hp & ~50 ft/lbs with the same carb. so I see great potential with the newest manifold.

... very nice work Alex, we're looking forward to seeing where you end up with your combo, the surface is just getting scratched with the R manifold, we hope it to be an extremely versatile manifold, and i mispoke, your engine was the 1st to test the R manifold, not my 428 ...

Is your engine a Nitrous Engine Alex?

If it is you are making the same power with your engine the guy with the Pontiac engine in the Mustang was making with a two 4 intake and dual dominators. His was a NOS engine. Good Job!

Thanks Tom, This is only an NA motor with 13.4cr - stock 48mm cam 276/285 114ls - .750 lift via 1.76 rockers, headers are 2.125" x 4" & 28 deg total timing. EFI will be next so to have the flexibility of fuels. We lifted a ringland with VP-C85 and a 1250 carb with an easy pull we made 957hp @ 6500 & 838ft/lbs @ 5600 so it looks like we should pick up a bit with the 2000 cfm throttle body.

A note to anyone considering using VP's C-85 fuel - it is only E60 not the implied E85 and is a very unforgiving fuel and well known to lift ringlands of which I found out too late.

Had to ask as the low compression ratio did hurt the other guy on the dyno some.

Still with the efi and a 2000 cfm T/B you will be moving a bunch more air and the tune-up will be a bunch easier vs getting your hands in gasoline constantly.

Charlie66 found that deal out when he went EFI.

I really like the 2 piece intake. Makes porting a cast intake a whole bunch easier. Nice numbers for 93 octane and 434 cubes.

700hp with a stock block motor is a nice milestone IMO. He did a good job.
Can't wait to see what it does in his car...on the track!
