Default Bit The Bullet.

Hello everyone, it's been a long time since I've posted here regarding my 70 project GTO. I'm sure some of you thought I dropped off the face of the earth. Much has happened in my life like losing my job in 2008 during the economic down turn, went back to school and became a registered nurse, so yes I've been busy but not on my GTO. After getting back on my feet financially I started investigating body shops to finish my GTO but after getting quotes for about $10000 to $13000 to finish the last 5% of the bodywork and paint and putting the pencil to paper what a non numbers matching GTO would be worth and what I'd have to spend on it to finish her. I just came to the conclusion financially it didn't make sense. I probably shouldn't have started calculating and looking up values but anyways to little to late. I had also started looking at GTO on Ebay and Craigslist that were ready to go and enjoy. Anyways, I have bit the bullet and found me a numbers matching 70 GTO convertible. Does she need some work yes but do I get to enjoy her while I fix a few things and tinker with her? He'll yes! Anyways, y'all I thought I would share with y'all my video of the car being delivered. So see the youtube link below and I'm sure I will be asking y'all alot of questions soon about how to take care of things on her since it's been about 32 years since I've drove let alone worked on one of these.

Brian.....very pretty ride. Congratulations! If you are still in the Houston area, you will have to get it out to Niftee50ees or ShowPlace Classics at Ottos one of these Saturday nights.

Nice vert!

So just wondering, what are you doing with the other GTO? How much is left to do?

Mucho congrats, Brian. Gorgeous '70 'vert!

As John stated above, if you're in Houston let's get together and see that baby!

Thanks everyone I think she's a nice one too. Lloyd, I will be taking her to the nifty fifties car show that's at Kuykendahl probably next Saturday as long as this rain stops long enough next weekend??? Anyways, I still have the 70 GTO coupe and all the major body work has been complete since I stopped working on it around five years ago. It is just about ready for the frame to come off it to do the underbody and frame/suspension. There are two small holes on both the passenger and driverside floorboard that need patching anf that's about it other than putting her all back together and finding a drivetrain. I will probably put her up for sale but I need to look at things.
Brian

I forgot, yes there was another one similar (red on red) for sale in Austin at the same time except its was a 4 speed but it was in real rough shape. It was closer than the one I decided on and it was a 4 speed but I didn't want to buy another complete project car. I already had that in a coupe sitting in my garage.

Congratulations.
Do you mind posting what transport company you used to have the car delivered and were you happy with the transport.
Thank you.

No problem, I used Exotic Transport out of Florida they have the bright yellow trucks. They were great the car arrived on time and in perfect condition and it was transported per my request without a car above it so no fluids would leak onto it. Also the driver was courtious and let me know where he was just about everyday. Now there website isn't much to look at but their service and transport truck was awesome.
