I think the tire selection sucks for these rims, the two sizes mentioned above and 255/50/17 on all four corners are the only sizes even available.

I wish 275-295/45/17were being made then we could get a staggered width set up in a 27" tall tire.

I wonder if there is a way to lobby Nitto into adding a 285/45/17 size to their 555 line?

I agree. That's why I went with 18" wheels.

The 1st Gen Nitto NT555 in 255-45 and 285-40, both about 26" tall.

I initially went with BFG 275/40x17 G Force Sports but they looked way too small for the wheel wells on my stock suspension 75 Bird. I just replaced them with Nitto 255/50x17 which look much better. So now I need to get rid of the 275s which only have 500 miles on them.

here's the link to how it looks before and after:

I dropped the front with hot chiks 2" drop (now 27 1/4")
I dropped the rear Springs with Detroit speed 2" (27 1/2")
275/40/17 front
285/40/17 rear

Wish you had the tires for sale earlier that's what I bought for the front
