Very nicely detailed, even has the cut and welded throttle cable bracket.

Now that is art, what a talent he has. David needs to have prints made up to sell... and they'd sell like hotcakes too.

I'm blown away by the artistic talent cause I have none.
But just to pick nits, there is a typo on the starter motor, should be 1107294. And I think there is a detailing error on the fan clutch, missing the two "blocks". But jeez, I have trouble staying within the lines in a coloring book, that is pretty awesome work. Wonder who owns the motor that was used for the modeling gigl? I envy that guy too. |

I'm with John.
I couldn't draw a straight line with a ruler. HO Racing has one for the SD 455 that is actual size. But it is a line drawing, not like a picture or real look. I'd say David Kimble is the artist. Is he on PY?

As an aside, I have worked with David Kimble to create this type of art (for Chevy Truck sales brochures and presentations).
He takes the math data (aka electronic engineering drawings) and his own photographs and melds them into the incredible artwork you see here. He is very talented and is a quiet, humble man and a joy to work with. Thanks for posting that, Chad. K

John V. I'm a little behind. What "blocks" are you referring to? My car is in the trailer and I haven't seen it for a month!!!
On the plus side, I have been looking for what I thought was a "correct" clutch for my car for more than a year. The clutch portrayed is what I have, soooo, guess I'll stop looking. My clutch does not have a date code, but does have PF. Seems like we had a thread and PE and PF were correct??? bill |

Dah,
Not exactly as I said above, as there are U shaped clips that crimp closed around the groove in both ends of rods opposed to the clips shown in the cutaway art.

I noticed the rear carb is a "997" and the front is a "683". I don't know if this was done intentionally, but look at the pictures I've attached.
Only the "683" carb bodies I have are without the hole in the choke cam boss--first picture. The second picture is of a late "997" carb body which has the shorter choke cam boss, but a tapped hole where the choke cam screw is located on a center carb. The last picture is of an early "997" carb which has a longer cam boss, different reinforcment casting, and casting numbers under the bowl instead of on the side.

Bill, yes. But now I'm a bit confused, I thought 2 "blocks" on a '64 Eaton fan clutch, are there 3? I don't have an original '64 fan clutch.

Here is a screen shot of a dealer training video that shows the steel 7 blade fan. There are 2 blocks or areas void of fins, at about 2:00 and 8:00. It appears to be flat black. There are some stamps on the clutch, but I cant make them out. Here is a link to the video, fan blade is at 10:31. The clutch is mounted on the wrong side of the fan, makes the blades look backward.

I did agree with Chad. That is why I've been looking for a fan clutch for several years. BUT, now that I have seen this wonderful rendition of a "64 TP engine, complete with natural dip stick, I'm not so sure. The clutch I have always had is EXACTLY like the one David Kimble has reproduced, minus the "blocks", so where would he have seen the clutch he drew if not on the '64 engine he drew???
John, my clutch has 3 "blocks at 120 degrees and PF stamped on the front, but no date code. Think I'll slow down looking for a clutch and just listen and learn. bill |
