Default 1978 403 motor

Looking for a correct 1978 403 Olds motor for my 1978 Y84. I have a 79 403, but am looking for a more correct motor. The closer to GA. the better.

I have several 403 Olds engines/parts in various stages of assembly. Are you looking for a specific date code? What is the difference between a '78 and '79 403? Thanks, Bob.

I don't think there is a difference, just the date code. I am looking for a Dec 78 or earlier block. Thanks for the reply.

Ken

A Dec '78 date code would be for a '79 model year vehicle.

To be a correct motor, I would actually need the vin of the motor to read, 28L125860 or lower. Thanks, Ken
