Default My experience selling 400 block on CL

I've got a 67 400 short block that I posted on Craigslist with no picture and have had 4 solid hits in about 3 days or less. One of the 4 is on his way and I'm sure he'll buy it. This is a YD block so nothing rare but none of that was mentioned in the ad. Just the year. I'm of the belief that the '67 is the strongest of the 400's but I'm doubtful most guys are even aware of that argument... I'm getting away from the point though.. which is, any way you slice it there is still some solid interest out there in a old sound pontiac 400...

Oh, right, the price.. $500 Portland Or. and please comment on that.. too cheap??

I've got a couple of 67 400's sitting on the shelf. I think 500 is a good price for you to get out of it. I paid 100 for each of mine

$500 is a fair price for someone looking who doesn't want to wait

I usually get $400 for a short block assy. I have a 71 YS and a 69 XH for sale right now, and a couple of 72& 73s that aren't advertised.

What's the going price for a good crankshaft now? I've got a guy who wants a crankshaft, but I'd rather not bust up a matching short block.

$75 for 400 cranks, $100 for 455 cranks, as-is unchecked. If it's been checked and is known good, $150-175. Yeah, I know that's cheaper than the cost to get a crank checked, but most people don't seem to want to pay any more for that.
