Default Burt Reynolds trivia question.

I have a question for you all. I am pretty damned sure that one of the football players in the movie, "The Absent Minded Professor" is Burt. Can anyone confirm this? I can't find it on the web and of course I could be wrong.

Thanks,

People go uncredited on occasion. Even famous people. So its not impossible even if its not documented. But it does make it was more unlikely It shows up on his IMDB page now, but I think Harrison Ford was originally uncredited in Apocalypse Now.

Another Burt Reynolds trivia question. What is the alleged main reason Jackie Gleason decided to do Smokey and the Bandit with Burt Reynolds ?

There is a scene in the 1973 movie; Dillinger, that a little kid asks the Sherriff about something and the Sherriff (played by Ben Johnson) lets the little kid hold his pistol.
I'd swear that kid is D.B. Sweeney, but there is no mention of it in his Wikipedia page, nor in the 1995 edition of Leonard Maltin's movie guide that I have. The latter is pretty good for mentioning any early uncredited bits by actors who became successful later on.

I believe it was because the director Hal Needham let him adlib anything he wanted.

Also,,, IIRC Gleason did the movie for scale.

Burt's not listed...
It sure is and everything can be found on there. Right... The reality of the net is there is a lot of stuff that is not on the net. I looked in quite a few places and can find no reference either, thus the question. It is surprising what you can't find on the net and it is a small world sometimes and you can be surprised at what you can find out if you just ask. Thus... I'm trying the asking part.

Another good example, "Hollywood Knights", Michelle Pfeiffer was uncredited even though she had a speaking part in the movie. If I remember correctly one of the other football players in, "The Absent Minded Professor" was one of the stunt men in, "Hooper" and had a speaking part in the movie (Hooper).

I'm fully aware that google doesn't know everything. And I also realize that it's possible that someone can appear in a movie and never be credited.

However, the IMDB lists 177 acting credits alone - which includes 10 credits from 1961 - the year of the movie you "think" he was in.

It also lists 14 director credits, 11 producer credits, 11 soundtrack credits, 2 writer credits, 1 casting director credit, 7 special thank you credits, 185 self credits and 44 archive footage credits.

That's 451 documented credits for Burt.

The only other source I can think of is for you to do is contact Burt and ask him.

The two football players that get their faces in close-up shots are most likely twin brothers Mike and Marlin McKeever.

They played for USC thru the 1960 season. Both were drafted in the '61 NFL draft.

They were credited with appearing in The Absent Minded Professor. So most likely it is not Burt but the McKeever twins in the close ups.

Since they are twins, not sure which is which.

Jackie agreed to play a rather lowbrow role as the redneck sheriff in Smokey and the Bandit because he knew Burt Reynold’s reputation for insobriety and figured it’d be a good time. Awed by the Great One, the cast and crew would gather around him between scenes, watching him drink seas of scotch while reveling them with stories about the good old days.

I agree that neither of the two football players in the close up shots are Burt.

In the end, all I'm getting at is, of course I looked on the net first it's just that sometimes things are not on the net so I asked here after searching the net as it says in the original, unedited post above. And... I also said I could be wrong.
