NP435 to BOP bellhousing
I've looked online and cannot get a clear answer. Does the NP435 Ford bolt pattern fit a BOP bellhousing with 2 patterns drilled into it?
The 1986 Ford I have is the best $800.00 I have ever spent. That said, if and when the engine goes, instead of rebuilding the 300, I was thinking dropping my soon to be swapped 400 "557" block into it as a upgrade. By then I will be out of NJ and in a state with less strict emissions. Thoughts?

A little Googling and found this
"From what I can find, the NP435 trans uses the Top Loader to bellhousing bolt pattern. " "I've also found info that states the older TKO uses the same bolt pattern as the Top Loader." "This site here was helpful for info on the NP435. It states: "The Ford NP435 has a 1-1/16" diameter, ten spline input shaft that has a stick-out of 6-1/2" from the front face of the transmission. The pilot tip of the transmission measures ~17mm." The New Process 435 Transmission - Novak Conversions " The issue may be in that Input Shaft length, spline and pilot tip dims. I believe the Ford Toploader 3 speed Pontiac used in the mid to late 60's had a GM specific input shaft made for them to work.

When we used a toploader we used a special pilot bearing that fits in the torque converter pilot hole. That fixs the input shaft length problem.
