Check your connector style. These A bodies differ from most GM models in that the Left motor to fit most GM cars fits the right door on these A bodies, and vice-versa.

These will work with some mods, or you can swap the guts out to your housing. The dip they used is very similar to the vinyl tool dip commonly available to seal the motors up.

The OE numbers are 5045664 and 5045669. They are quite expensive, but do not settle for cheap offshore replacements.

when I opened it . I could not get the motor shaft to come out from the gearbox , but the winding side came out and popped the brushes out and was very difficult to get it all back together. I was thinking if I had to I could put new motors on my gearboxes . Is there a secret to getting motor shaft out of the gearbox? without messing up the armature side

Saw these before on Frank's as a FYI for you. Interested in $$$ costs for replacement or repairs to your power motors...we have same on our '73 Grand Am

Edit: Pulled out my copies of MOTOR Auto Repair Manuals and surprised to find no power window service information FWIW.

Perhaps this will help?

Remembering out loud: to power my '79 TA electric windows up & down (while in dry dock in garage) was told trick was to apply power only to motor and ground other battery cable to door frame.

yes , you have to ground the housing . the switch only applies power . So I grounded it to neg, side of batt . and worked . then I switch out gearbox with my gearbox it motor fit perfect . installed it back on car and doesn't work . Have to pull it again I was thinking maybe door does not have good ground .

I was able to install the motors from the ebay ones to my gearbox no problem . It seems the new 2 button switch I bought has a ground wire . when I attach that wire windows would not work . put tester on it and it gets 12v. when I press the switch and would ground everything out . old switch did not have the ground wire . left off. windows now work with the new motors
