Trunk Mats
Do you keep a trunk mat in your car? I tend to avoid it since they can trap moisture and encourage rust. I usually throw down some cardboard when I'm carrying items in the back. But I do like the look of the houndstooth pattern and the added protection over the splatter paint. My original mat has pretty much disintegrated and I'm trying to decide if I should order a replacement or not.

Running one in my '67 which has a rough-ish trunk, and none in my '65 which has a mint trunk. Moisture would be due to a leaky car or high humidity. I have neither. In NC, where you are, the humidity can be pretty high. I like the looks and sound deadening of the mat, but you should pull it out at intervals and check underneath. My 2 cents......

If they ever reproduce a thicker quality mat like the oem then yes,
however IMO the current offerings are garbage and I would say don't bother unless your showing your car off.

I'm going without then for now. My trunk paint is original (pontiac build) and I have one small area that needs touched up. Any chance the GM rattle can (Aqua black) would blend in ok or do I need to reshoot with a spray gun? I've seen a lot of controversial posts on this but thought I'd ask since I don't want to repaint the whole trunk.
