Personally, I'd have had a fit.

The tat is very close to the actual symbol used, so the nose is actually correct. As for having a fit- he's 19 and I have zero to say about it...I would have preferred he didn't do it but it's academic at this point.

My son did the same thing. Came home with a tattoo... I was shocked. He was 24 though and off to boot camp in a couple of months so.... At least his sleeves cover it up just like your son's.
Tats are just such a fad now... Especially for girls/women. The exceptional people are the ones without them!

A fad now? They have been a "fad' for as long as I remember and before.
Shoot, a bunch of guys here respond like old women to a very cool tattoo. Not like he tatted his neck or something.

Yeah, people had tattoos forever but now it's almost everyone. Back in the 60's and 70's when I was coming up, if you saw a tat it was a vet, a biker or a convict...if it was a woman it was a stripper. Now everyone from your kid's kindergarten teacher to the bank teller has them.

I'm from the same generation and agree. Tattoos kept people from being hired in mainstream jobs (back when people thought they were supposed to work), so they were rarely seen. Today attitudes are very different. I guess because younger people live for the moment, not the future.

Not disrespecting your son, Don. Just making a statement about changing times and attitudes. Kinda like GMC in POCI and Buick ads in Smoke Signals.

Hell, if all of us here were normal we would be talking about Camaros.

I agree with Greg and 400 4speed. And yeah it seems everyone these days has tattoos to some degree. But, there are still jobs out there that can't be had if you're tattooed to the hilt. Besides that... what will they look like 40 or 50 years later when the ink bleaches out and spreads, or the colors run together? I've seen some that have done that and it ain't pretty... especially on women.

I've thought of getting one or two, but it ain't gonna happen. Dirty needles are out there everywhere, and they've been found at a few high traffic tattoo parlors around here. It's one hell of a nasty way to catch Aids or Hepatitis.

Dirty needles, where are you at, prison? You watch them open the needle packs. Living life in fear is no way to live. I know guys who won't ride dirt bikes out if fear of getting hurt.
Oh well, to each his own.
