Default Help on a 1970 Lemans sport convertible

I am on the way soon to look at a 1970 Lemans sport convertible,
it claims to have a 400 2bbl
how do I tell if it is a 400 vs 350?
is it in the VIN ?
any and all help would be great
THANKS

it will have call outs on the rockers for 400

the engine code and the vin on the block are the only way to tell if its original to the car..PHS is the next

"400" will be cast on the side of the block by the freeze plugs.

400-2 is possibly the rarest engine for the convertible that year. May be worth getting the PHS, although that doesn't necessarily mean it's worth a lot of money.

Have parted two '70 LeMans Sports that began as 400 2 bbls. Engine code code will be XX. Factory rear end gearing will be lazy with the 400 2bbl. both gray iron 8.2s I ended up sticking under other parts cars in order to roll them around.

Try this link:
http://www.wallaceracing.com/engine1.htm

The engine code will be stamped at the front passenger side of the block between the timing cover and cylinder head (X7, YU, XX, YB, etc.) along with a partial vin that can be used to see if the engine is original to the car.

Besides that, there should be an embossed "350" or "400" on the block. I just looked at a 69 350 block, and it is almost directly beneath the dipstick tube on the passenger side, and below the #5 spark plug on the block on the driver side.

On my 72 350 block, it was only on the passenger side at the dipstick tube on the block.
