67 Dash Harness Red Connector?
Greetings friends, while working on the ignition switch that I've posted here I came across a connector I can't find information about. While on my back looking at the dash harness I have a red spade connector with two brown wires going into it. The connector is not connected to anything else, and it's a factory install. It's right about the steering column on the harness. I have looked in my shop manual but I can't find any description of it. The thing that bugs me is it's the only red connector I see under the dash. I guess the color just says it's important and should be connected. If anyone has any idea, please feel free to speak up. Can you get a photo of it for us? Old Goat 67 might have an answer as he has a lot of his 67 documented with photos when he did his restoration. Oh Charles......

Accessory Feed.
Pg 12-12 of your '67 Service Manual. Same for '66 found on Pg 12-9.

OK here is a photograph. I found it in the manual, but where does it go? I'm not even sure it was connected before, but who knows. With all the mess they made in the dash harness. However, the car was running just not very well. Thanks friends. Mike

IIRC; It can feed Power Antenna, Tach, and/or Defogger.
However check service manual to be sure.

That brown wire with the red plug on it carries 12 volts of "+" power whenever the key is in the on position. It has zero volts when you turn your car off. It is used for accessories such as cruise control, a power antenna, rear window defogger; etc.
You can use that wire to feed an aftermarket or reproduction in-dash tachometer that is wired from a high-energy GM-HEI transistorized or aftermarket electronic ignition system. I would make up a tiny little jumper with a 2 amp in-line glass fuse for the tach feed.
