I have raced my car (It's not a Pontiac but an Aussie Holden Torana) for about 20 years and stopped about five years ago, lost interest. Just this Friday we dusted the car off and I have handed the proverbial keys to my Son who has been bugging me to let him race it. He is into cars but has gone down the track of the drift style rice burners (I know, I know).
Told him to take it easy for his first pass knowing that he has never actually dragged raced any sort of car. Well he totally ignored that instruction. Apart from struggling to get reverse gear he did quite well I would say. I think I have converted him. Any body wanna buy a Maxda RX-7??? The engine is a basic well built 308ci Holden engine using a transbraked powerglide. Here are a couple of videos of his very first run. Never felt this nervous at a track in my life. It's the white car by the way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePjR...ature=youtu.be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlqI0uYnzas |

He was probably hooked (on drag racing) before he hit the 60 ft mark. With a drifting background though, he might not want to let off if the car gets out of shape. Show him a couple of videos where people get out of the groove.
And congrats on passing the torch. ![]() |
