Default Rev Limit

i recently read article in High Performance Pontiac mag about 8 performance tips for pure stock, one for tip was for crane cams xr-i points conversion and crane fireball ps20 coil. i want to switch to electronic points so i got this set up, the instructions say to set rev limit, there is an adjustable dial from 4000 rpm to 8000 rpm, but does anyone know what the rev limit for a stock 350 2bbl is? has anyone used this set and how is it?
Thanks

The engine can take 5500 to 6000 rpm. But, it won`t go there with a 2bbl. carb and small cam. So, 3800 to 4500 is prolly more realistic.

have used it, along with several other pure stock guys. the xr-i rev limiter piece has been known to be off by 500rpm.

possibly unrelated or not, but I removed it and went with an M&H one wire setup and my hard starting problems went away too. I like the M&H setup much better, fwiw

The rev limiter is there to keep from over revving the engine in case of driveline failure or a missed shift. You want to set it high enough that you won't hit it during normal driving, but low enough that it keeps the motor together in an over rev situation.
While I agree that a stock 350 2bbl won't spent much time north of 4500 rpm I still wouldn't set the rev limiter any lower than 5500.

Would there be an issue with the stock springs in that engine? I'm guessing those springs are only good for 4500 give or take.........But I am certainly no expert or authority on the subject.....
