Family's '66 GTO Restoration
East Coast Florida -
Sept 66 my parents brought home this new GTO. !! I had just graduated high school and was able to drive it for three years until I left to go into the USAF. Spec’s - eng 389cu in, 4bbl, 2 spd Auto, pwr steering/brakes, and factory AC. 68,900 miles prior to restore. Around ‘80 it was painted “Blue” ??? Mom drove it until ‘84 when she parked it in her garage as is. After she passed away, a friend and I decided to restore it starting mid 2007. Using mainly nights and weekends here’s what 2 guys and 6 years were able to finish this past Feb. Lots of family memories when driving around. |

Thank you all for the kind comments.
The car has always been located in Brevard County. Parents lived in Rockledge and I live in Merritt Island (10 min away).

Your parents used great judgment in keeping the car for so long. A lot of other former GTO owners probably wish they did the same. Anyhow, the car looks great.

We are down south a ways in Martin County, but I hope to see you at a show in Vero Beach or possibly the BOP show in Old Town or the WTW show in February.
