Default interesting red on gold interior ebay car

Hello Forum,

I had never seen this color combo before:

red on gold interior

Seller says it is the original color combo:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pontiac-GTO-...US_Cars_Trucks

Just FYI…

would like to see the tag showing the color combo, not saying its not the original combo. for 44K seems alittle over the top on the asking price to me.

Ralley II on a 66, now is that original?

Looks like they have assumed alot on the build.

Just not for me.

Throw in a little Green and it'll be ready for Christmas

I'm pretty sure all the Gold on the interior, if this is how it was built would have been Red.
Loose all the Gold inside and it might not look so pieced together.

Almost as good as the 69 TA's with the green interiors!

Pontiac never would have done the dash metal gold with a red interior. That whole car is a turd at best. He should take the 22k that's been offered already. So many things are wrong I don't know where to start.

Have to agree with R4K and the dash treatment is especially hideous. We did have a blue with red interior 65 running around these parts many years ago and it looked much better than this waste of $$$.

Last week the New Hampshire Craigslist had an equally unusual combination on a 1966 GTO: Nightwatch Blue exterior with a Beige vinyl roof and Blue interior. The car was well priced and disappeared from the ads quickly.

That car would look fine with a black interior.....and I love red interiors. Not original, at least the dash treatment. It would be all red, as would the interior A pillars, or they'd be white with a white headliner. Done in bad taste, IMO. A black, gold, or parchment interior would transform this car, though.

My guess is that since it is a 'special paint color' car (by the designation on the trim tag) they 'assumed' it had to be tiger gold since that was the most popular special paint color in 66. Pontiac would paint your car practically any color; especially any GM color back then if you ordered it. A different shade of red maybe??
