I thought I saw some numbers that Fred Simmons compiled that put that number at 787. Check with Diego he has the Simmons research.

That was a good pull from memory , John.

787 was all Judges with AC (auto manual hardtop convertible)

729 was all GTO/Judge RA3 Hardtop with Auto and AC

Doesn't look like he broke it down beyond that.

Most all of Fred's research papers have been posted on here in various threads.
Just have to keep an eye out for them when they pop up.

Place called GM Heritage Center , i believe , is the parent source now.
Diego could tell you more about it.

Yeah, little by little, I've compiled some info from the Heritage Center, plus have scored a number of Fred's research. Different info is out there depending on the years, with some quite detailed and some missing.

So based on that chart, out of 9250 RA3/4 GTO's produced in 69, not a SINGLE car came with a rear defogger? granted, it's not a "go fast" option, but there had to be SOME highly optioned RA cars produced, how much did it cost, like $3 more?!?! okay, I looked it up, it was $22.12...

No one ordered a RAIV auto Judge convertible either - all it takes is one, or maybe the defogger was incompatible with the RA motors for some reason?

I'd have to go thru my old buildsheets but I'm sure I had a judge with a factory rear defog. I know it's not a ram air thing because I have a 69 Ram air firebird with a rear defog that's on the buildsheet.

isn't it obvious? the blower motor drew air out of the passenger compartment before microseconds later, depositing it back inside, thereby destabilizing the atmospheric bubble surrounding the car. That caused a temporary pressure drop in the atmosphere which caused less air to be drawn in through the hood scoops starving the motor of it's needed oxygen for the combustion burn. Well known fact out there that turning on a defogger would cause a drop of over 25 hp on the motor! don't even get me started on what kind of horrific performance drains occurred if you used your cigarette lighter during a drag race!

I found three 69 RA cars pretty quickly with rear window defogger on Invoice.
The deal is - that option is C50 / 404

C49 is the electric defroster (grid glass)
would make sense , since it wasn't even available on any 69 GTO.

Fred just got his option name / terminology mixed up.
