Thanks for posting the pics Baddta...I didnt even realize they made that hood for anything other than 1st gen Firebirds. Doesn't look too bad on the later generations although I feel the design was meant to mimmick the stock raised portion of early bird hoods with the groove in the middle blending late WS6 styling.

I'm surprised at how long the hood has been out and I'm not seeing that many cars running it. I think it is the best looking cowl hood available for Pontiacs as it doesnt look like a Chevy cowl grafted on a Pontiac. The Glasstek cowl hood was my choice until I saw the Tony Ortz hood which has practically no flat surfaces on it like The Chevy cowl hood types.

I received a Tony Ortz/VFN 6" Cowl hood the other day but my front-end is not on the car and cant yet see what it looks like on the car...so was/am anxious to see how it looks on the car

So far, I'm liking the looks of the hood! I'm running the 1st design Wenzler manifold with Edelbrock adapters that turn the carburetors 90 degrees to convert the sideways mounted carbs to standard inline mounting. I want the inline mounting to simplify to carb linkage and I like the nostalgic look of inline mounted 660 dual carbs. The nitrous plates are just sitting there for now to allow the carbs to sit flat as the edelbrock adapters need some clearance grinding to clear the accelerator pump arm. It looks like the front carb will just bareley have room for an air cleaner, but removing the nitrous plate should give enough room. Of course I wont know for sure until I get the front end on.

Also, I'm going with the MT valve covers for the nostalgic look. RPC makes 1" valve cover spacers that allow the MTs to clear the Crane roller rockers and Webster Stud Girdles. These valve covers were the first aftermarket item I bought for the engine back when I got the car in 1977

1 " valve cover spacer by RPC allows the old finned M/T valve covers to clear valve gear

I like the Glasstek better also. Has the beak like the factory hood. Jeff's car would make a turd look good tho.

I have the Glasstek 69 bird cowl scoop "scabbed" onto my 72 Ventura hood. I like the Glasstek shape better as it keeps the hood line similar to the Pontiac V shape (not like the Chevy).

Eh -

I'm not sold on the hood myself. I think it looks unfinished as a design. The front nose beak is stock and then it flairs out to a massive hood blob.

It's for guys that don't want stock intakes. The "blob" keeps hi rise intakes under it.
Nothing more nothing less. At least its Pontiac oriented. Did I miss where the OP asked for opinions on them?
