Default Differential help (non pontiac)

My son has a 1994 Ford Lightning. We found these in the differential. Anybody know what they are. The thing next to the coin. There were four of them. They all had damage, this is the best one.

Actually at that many miles I would recommend a complete overhaul, have a pro do it you are unwilling to learn. If done incorrectly, IE; backlash not checked setup right it will grenade the unit.I think we have a few rear diff experts on here.
I would install a completely new carrier. Also look at the ring and pinion, that metal probly got all ground up,not good. Also all bearings need replaced.[including axle bearings and seals.]
Maybe Mr. Tom V. can ring in on this too.
200,00 miles is dam good though.

I've done this before. Not on the Lightning. Never noticed those. That is why I was asking where they went. Just curious.

Default Update

Clutch tabs broke off. All of them on the right side. Had four on left side (two plates).

That just means he's driving the truck the way it was meant to be!
