Default 1965 GTO -E Brake, Clutch, Brake & Gas Pedal Stainless Trim

I just purchased an original unrestored GTO survivor with original motor and 4 speed transmission. The car came from the factory with manual brakes and steering and does not have the stainless trim on any of the pedals. I was told that this is correct for manual brake and steering cars. Is this true? If so, why did Pontiac do this? Thanks.

That's what I've always thought too , but the 70 Bonneville that I recently purcased from the original owners and is original has the stainless trim on the pedals and doesn't have power brakes . This is a first for me but not sure if it is a year thing or a B body . I don't recall seeing this on an A body cars I've owned .

Same for 66 A bodies. Manual brakes..... no pedal trim.

Thanks guys. I won't put any trim on pedals since that's apparently how it came from the factory.

Once I figure out how to post photos, I will start a new thread and do so. I'm thrilled to own a true one owner barn find. Factory black, close ratio 4 speed, tri-power, parchment interior, rally gauges and wood wheel. Ordered with 3:90 Posi. Have all original paperwork and window sticker. Paint is 95% original but shows the wear and tear of being an everyday driver for 7 years. No rust on the body other than some beginnings around the front and back glasses. Has a few dings and scrapes, but I'm going to get it running and make it mechanically roadworthy, detail it out and leave it alone. 73k miles.

Correct. My car is manual steering/manual brakes - no stainless trim.

No one addressed the "why" part but my interpretation would be the Marketing group thought it would be nice to give a little extra "bling" to the guy who is spending more money.

Looking forward to pics!

Just because it has manual brakes don't let that stop you. My 66 has manual brakes and I added the trim... but the car is modified so it's not big deal to me. Besides, it looks a lot better inside with the pedal trim.

I wondered about the "bling" factor as well with the step up to power brakes. I rally do like the look of the stainless trim.
