Default 1/2 inch fuel hose

Is there such thing as black rubber 1/2 inch fuel hose? I really don't want to use AN fittings and braided hose if I don't need to.

Yep, any decent parts store should have it in bulk. I bought mine at O'reillys.

I could not find it at any of the local Auto Parts Stores, but I have purchased it from a Truck(Tractor Trailer) Parts Store.

Just a suggestion: put a big filter in-line between tank and fuel pump and a small one between pump and carb.
Rubber fuel line deteriates over time. Took about 7 years on mine and it plugged my filter nearly complete.

How far are you running the rubber hose? I don't trust rubber and try to use as little as possible for the same reason as 66bonne but I didn't use 2 filters back years ago and rubber got through everything in a lot less time than his did.

Why not get the aeroquip socketless hose? Its lined so its compatible with gas, its not as hokey as braided line, its black and really durable. Iv'e got it on my 67'.

I'd think of this also.

If it is in your budget...Teflon lined hose is very long lasting.

I looked for some last spring when I was starting my engine on a test stand (my pump has 1/2" fittings), and ended up buying Gates 1/2" hose.

The only thing that bugged me was that while the Carquest dealer said it was 1/2" fuel line he was selling me, the box said EEC hose (evaporative emission control hose).

When I got home I Googled the part # and found references to it being OK for gas, while some other sites listed it as for pollution control devices which jived with the EEC rating.

It does look like like regular fuel line but I did notice that the inner and outer layer were a bit thinner than 3/8" line, so I have some concerns about long term use.

speedway motors has their own version of socketless hose that is even better priced than the Aeroquip hose and if you compare the 2 they look identicle, makes you wonder. BTW, it seems that any rubber hose used with gasoline (of today) will have a finite lifespan. the big question is 'how long'. that is why not too many people recommend running the rubber, socketless or whatever you can find. probably the socketless hose will be a bit tougher than the rubber fuel line hose BUT, with the alchohol in the gas today, it really makes it tough for any kind of rubber. I would say the best would be the Teflon lined hose or maybe the rubber hose that you can buy that is rated for fuel injection. the socketless hose would be close behind.

I guess with the socketless hose, you have to cut it off to get it off?

No. you use a wrench. It uses push in AN fittings. If you want to get the fittings out then yes you will be cutting it just like most barbed fittings.

Iv'e been using my aeroquip socketless stuff now for 3 years and it layed in my garage for a year prior during the build. I bought it used from Old66tiger. Hes a member here and I got it in a complete fuel system package. I'm not sure how long he had been using it prior to selling it to me but i'm guessing at least a couple of years. There are no signs of hose rot or any of that stuff and i'm in Iowa where the ethanol is unavoidable in most circumstances. I think the teflon lining is good stuff, unlike the old braided crap.

I did some searching and found hose that is for marine use and resistant to alchohol. A1 15 EPA certified, whatever that means.

So I guess the repro hose that is sold with GAS GAS printed on it is more for trailer queens and I should probably change mine. Its less than a year old and only about 1 hour of use but it is quite hard.
