Heater Cores?
Hi Guys,
Has anyone here compared heater cores for a '68 A/C & non-A/C car? I'm replacing mine but the only listings I'm finding are for A/C cars only but they may be the same thing. Your thoughts? Greg |

A/C and non A/C are not the same.

Thanks AS, I do you know if it is a core size difference or a tube difference?

The tubes are completely different. I'm not sure about the core size but I know that it mounts in a completely different way also.

Be careful with the O' Reilly one. The inlet and outlet pipes are bent really close to the heater core making it hard to get through the fire wall.

Also beware that the Camaro heater core is often substituted and it's about 1/4" thinner. No big deal if you shim it to fit, but if you don't it clunk around in the box. I actually got the correct part through rockauto.com as our host didn't stock them at the time.

Thanks for the input guys. I found one through my local radiator shop. Fit was OK but the 5/8 tube was a little too close to the heater box. A bit of heat to soften the solder and it moved about 3/4 of an inch. Perfect.
