While that is correct number, visual accounts of those made in the later 70's and early 80's (I suspect different vendor) have a longer "neck" . yup they are "long necks"! function the same.

Default tips

neck is 1 3/4...I was surprised they made them that long...I actually got these GM N.O.S from Year 1 around 1992...I wonder if they were over 10 years old when they got them?

Is that p/n actually stamped on the tips or from a paper parts tag?

Just pulled the tips off of what I'm quite certain was the original complete exhaust system from my white '73. There are not any part number stampings. Where the originals stamped? As I said, I'm pretty sure these are the originals.

My understanding was the ones that left the factory installed on our cars weren't, but the over the counter replacements were stamped.

some were stamped near the angle-cut end (like this one) and some were stamped on the other end (that slides into the tail pipe).

Some are necked down at the bend (like this one) and some had a continuous, mandrel-type bend.

Believe I have both styles and can post pics later if needed...

Can someone tell me the overall length of the 1970 factory tail pipe? Maybe a picture with a ruler next to it. It would be greatly appriecated. Thanks

Here is a 70 1/2 tip.......it appears to be 17" from the top of the slash cut end to the high end of the insert.
