Default 1971 engine pics...

Looking for some reference pics of a 71 455 HO engine......original or correctly restored.....need pics of the top end, carb intake, etc. with the air filter housing off.

Want to clean mine up a bit and need to know what it's supposed to look like.

Thanks

2Many...do you need to paint your motor?...if so what Pontiac engine blue will you use?...I used O.E.R and I like it a lot, however I still have a lot of original paint on my oil pan and it does not look like any of the paints truly match it!!

Was the aluminum intake ever bare? I had a '72 TA and when I got it the intake was bare. The engine had not been out.

Default naked intake

in 1985 when I got my Trans Am I thought the same thing, yet the bolts securing the intake still had blue paint...needless to say I sent out my intake to be blasted and polished...it looked great for about 20 years til I came across this P.Y. site and found out all Pontiac intakes were painted...so I painted it and I do like it better, and it is easier to maintain, although I still run incorrect chrome valve covers...Rebel with a cause!..just don't have 2 many!!...I also recorded a few videotapes the day I picked up the car, and I filmed engine detail 101 when I removed the intake...in fact I just spent $200 on a V.C.R./D.V.D.combo.to relive my life...for a moment I was 23 again..images of myself and the T/A faded, coruptted by time....if I could have only known then, do not change the fenders or the door skins..for in the future you will be hung for high treason

Aftermarket engine paint is just like picking the "correct" colors to do your Rally II's.....

At the car show, you will see 5 correct (but different) colors.....

A lot has to do with paint qualty....gloss level....age & how it was shot, rattle can OR paint gun.....

I'm not getting too silly on this one.....it's a driver.....but want to get all the plumbing...brackets & linkage right....or close...anyways....

MIGHT even leave the chrome valve covers on.......
