Default GM Heritage Center Visit

Last Tuesday myself and Judge273 had an opportunity to visit the GM Heritage Center in Sterling Heights Mi. with a group of retired workers from the Norwood plant. Since it is not open to the public I jumped at the chance. When we got there I found my camera did not work so we ran down to Miejer and bought a 29.00 camera. That is the reason for some of the not so good pix. There is a bunch to see there, I'm not all that interested in the very old stuff so there are not any pix, but there is plenty there. Look in the background of the pix to see more of the cars that are there that I did not shoot.

All the great cars there and this was my favorite...

Don't know what this is but it was sitting under a truck out back. Some kind of Corvette prototype maybe

This is a photo thru a warehouse door next to the Heritage Center. One of the guys inside came right over as soon as he saw me take a picture and said "NO PICTURES". I don't think we were supposed to be looking in there but the guy talked to us for a while, but we never got more than a foot inside.

Looks like the back end of one of the 1966 Pontiac Banshee prototypes...

The Heritage Center is not big enough to store/display all of GM's cars and stuff; as a result much of the material is still stored off property in warehouses throughout southeast Michigan.

The good news is that the displays can be and are rotated often.

I try to get in there every time they have an open house (about once per quarter) and it's different every time I go.

I have been there twice and it was awesome both times. The first time GM paid for food and drink. It was January 6th 2006 when GM announced it was making the Camaro again. My wife and I were two out of 250 enthusiasts that GM invited to see the unvieling of the Camaro. Awesome day.
