Sunsets - let's see em
This is my favorite time of year. There is so much to enjoy. I know I am not the only one that can't resist taking these kind of Pics. Here is one I took and coincidentally a close friend was taking another on the other side of the county at the same time, so I included his as well:

While visiting last Thanksgiving. What's better than a sunset over the ocean?

Nice shots guys. That Duluth shot makes you cold just looking at it!
I had to get some printer paper yesterday. I didn’t feel like putting on my boxing gloves and fight my way through walmart, so I went to best buy. While I was there, I thought I would window shop digital cameras. I’m an expert window shopper because I never impulse buy. I saw an obsolete 20 mega pixel for $89. The upgrade was $160 but it didn’t have as much this, or as much that, as the old model. So I asked what the difference was. The assistant said the new one had wi-fy, but the older camera took better pictures. I heard of wi-fy, and I know it’s good stuff to have around, but I don’t have any wi-fy kicking around. And she said it did something with smart phones. My phone is dumb as a rock. I figured my phone and camera would get along well, so I bought it. This time of year is great for sunsets, so I’ll start watching because they would be a good canvas to try my luck. I have some old scanned point-and-click shots that cannot compete with the resolution of the posted pictures. Forgive me for high jacking because one is a sunrise, and the other ones are off topic, but they have the same geek-factor. And the next poster can put it back on topic. Sunrise at Baltimore Canyon off OC MD: It was usually 5’ to 8’ whenever we went out. It was about as true psychedelic as reality can deal, an explosion of color that doesn’t happen in this world. Perhaps it was the diesel fumes; notice the blue hue in the foreground with the red/pink scattered in the water. The picture isn’t a reasonable facsimile. Double rainbow off rout 1, north of Searsport and south of Ellsworth Maine: Went to see my great-great grandfather’s lobster punt at the Penobscot Marine Museum. Amazingly, the pos photo won second place in an AOL, word-wide rainbow photo contest. There were a hell of a lot of photos entries, and I would have never picked it as second place, but that’s just me Lighting strike behind my boat at OC MD: Pretty hard to catch, lots harder than trying to catch a fish. There is catching fish, and there is trying to catch a fish. Fishermen who have done both know that they are different processes. Storm rolling over OC MD, and looking kind of dicey in the second shot: I’m a weather geek and love violent weather. People were running, hiding, and crying, men, with real tears flowing down their cheeks. Cry? I was beyond ecstatic, and you couldn’t have paid me to take cover, and I even hung out in my boat’s plastic-glass enclosure while it was pouring, just to make sure that I didn’t miss anything. |

Sedona, AZ back in March of 2011 when we went to the NASCAR Cup race in Phoenix.
Claresholm, AB (well a ranch about 20 miles west of there) in July of 2010 (stayed at a working cattle ranch while going to the Calgary Stampede). Wind turbines near my home in SE MN on a 20 below zero day. |
