I put a repop fender on my 68. It was so bad I cut it up and used it to fix the original.

Not even CLOSE to fitting.

Default 68 68 fender

Just watched an auction on ebay for NOS still in box just end. I think they both hit 1350 each and did not sell due to not meeting reserve. WOW If anyone is interested I can give you the item number and you can reach out for him/her. I was thinking he had 1500 as the price but who knows. I am trying to buy a set that need the normal patch panel for 200 each hope he sells them to me. Also can someone tell me the difference on the tempest and GTO. I think its just the emblem holes but not sure.

just emblem hole differences between 68-69 Tempest/Lemans/CustomS/GTO....the higher the trim model, the fewer the holes!

The NOS ones had no holes in them - not even for the antenna.

The reproduction LH fender is not that bad. Used a few that fit decent.
The RH has never been any good especially around the upper area of the door.

Unfortunately, I suspect they used one of the last runs of NOS fenders to reproduce them. Many of the late 68/69 NOS fenders fit the same way on the RH side.
Maybe GM was selling off the rejects or tooling issues – don’t know?

Be aware if you spend thousands for NOS, you may end up with many hours in getting them to fit also.

Personally, after the last NOS set I put on my Judge, I would rather fix good used originals.

what would cause fenders to align to the doors like in this video? Just adjustment needed or are these likely repro fenders? Or worse, frame damage?

Yes, the way both of those fenders seem to bow out more than the doors tells me that they just simply aren't the same shape as they're supposed to be.

So now my next question is, how do I look for frame damage or serious body repair when I investigate this car? I assume I just follow the frame rails inch by inch and look for signs of repair? I guess I can see if the radiator brace is plum or not? Any other tips are greatly appreciated.

I was noticing the scratches on the passenger side Endora bumper, and they look like old damage from perhaps a side impact accident . Also the bubbling on the door may be signs of prior door bodywork. I will bring my magnet with me. Nice car otherwise .

Adam I'm 10 minutes from you. If you want another set of eyes I'd be glad to go with you. This is the one in Brooklyn IIRC? PM me if you want company.

Yes, that's the car. But it's no longer in Brooklyn. I'll PM you. I'd love to get together some day regardless - maybe hit Cap Tree one Sunday morning together. I've also seen a small, regular gathering of a few different makes (69 Mustang, a 70 Challenger and a Chevelle I think) at the Starbucks on Jericho in Woodbury early sunday mornings. Maybe we'll get a little North Shore thing going. I'll PM you.

I'm finally at a computer now and got to look at your pics. Are your fenders wider at the middle, or bowed out more, than the doors? That appears to be the common problem.

Mine was too tall between the body line at the rocker and the top of the fender. Unless we wanted to section it at the door, there was no way we were going to make it look right.

So if someone just bolted that on, the fender would bow out, right?
