Default 1979 Trans Am L78 400 WS6 4 Speed Barn Find

I have a well optioned 1979 Trans Am 400 4 Speed car. Has been I stored and off the road since 1983, showing 16,000 miles on the odometer. The car was not stored properly and has some deterioration. Was hot rodded when on the road, had some aftermarket parts. T top car has subframe connectors. The original engine with correct cylinder heads are there with standard bore pistons and appears to be original. Had headers, aftermarket intake, carb, valve covers, A/C system missing, transmission, bellhousing shifter missing, original 3.23 posi rear intact. Car had trunk mounted battery so there are small holes drilled, no rust in trunk, small pin hole in drivers floor, 1" rust on cowl near trim tag, fenders cruchy on bottom, tailpanel nice, quarters have surface rust only. Car was silver with red deluxe cloth with factory CB radio intact with power CB antenna. I would say the car is 75% complete.

Parts needed to complete:
intake manifold and carb with various sensors hosed brackets etc
Bellhousing, transmission and shifter
A/C compressor with hoses and brackets

Paint is GM silver and was faded off and there is surface ruat

Interior is 90% complete and excellent

T Tops good weatherstrip missing

I have 3 parts cars and many extra parts I will include

Asking $4500

I was always under the impression that all 79 400's were W72's? Looks like a GREAT project and would be all over it if it had the orig trans. GLWS.

Trans and shifter shouldn't be too hard to find. 76-78 should be the same

Just MHO, but you selling it WAY too short at 2500.00. These cars are rarer and rarer as time goes on. If I didnt have a y84 project sitting in my garage waiting for me to get to it after buying a new house I would be buying this even at 3500.

I had one with a crunched rear quarter. The car was very worn out but intact. It went on ebay and it sold for quite a bit more than you are asking. I had quite a few people calling me and pestering me to sell it to them while the buyer was getting his paperwork together, as it went to Canada. I usually don't comment on these things but you could do better on the car $$ wise.

Bump $2500 for a quick sale I do not have a title in hand but I have a certified copy form PA DMV to start the process, car was inspected by PA State Police so it is not stolen and his no liens I just don't have the time to complete the process and the process is easier in other states anyway and worst come to worst there is broadwaytitle.com Lack of title is reflected in the price

Original parts missing:
intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, carb, distributor, shaker w base, bellhousing, transmission, shifter, A/C system

Original block and heads intact but removed , 3.23 posi w disc brakes there, 4 WS6 wheels, space saver spare, original CB radio w power antenna, pedals w z bar and rods, console, 80% complete interior

I have a transmission, bellhousing and shifter from my old 77 TA if the buyer needs it.
Excellent price Karl, I just wish the timing was better for me.

Karl, your asking price is way low. Just my Too bad it's not a WS6 TA. That would jump the value even more.

If I had the room I'd buy it myself. PM me how to get to your place. I'd like to come by and take a look at it.

I am so confused, Cars that I turn away from sell in a blink of an eye, This car seems very underpriced and nobody has jumped on it , must be the time of the year, because this seems like such a great deal to me

if I bought it, everyone here would hate me. first thing to go would be the paint and interior. I don't really like the silver paint, but have a TATA, so it stays silver. this one would have to change if I had it. changing the paint doesn't really bother me, but my big thing is the title. I have went through that before, sometimes not too bad, but other times a real pain in the butt.

I can get a title no problem. Just a pain and takes time and or money. I have all documentation from PA. Georgia is a non title state for vehicles older than 1986. Vermont has an easy process but they want 6% tax on NADA book value which is $23,000. Delaware is cheap and easy but it takes six months. Broadway title is fast and easy but $800

Default pa title

you can get a PA title cheaper than saying incorrect price of 23k. Show pics, & list what is mia, the $2500 bill of sale, , it will cost buyer 7% of that.
