If you are planning to drive the car at all - the tires are most likely worthless.

1K each or thereabouts for Hurst wheels complete with caps and trim rings seems to be the going rate.

Great Find!
Buy them anyway! Does not matter if you use them or not, those are priceless and of significant historical value! The top surface of the spokes are polished in a unique Hurst style!
I bought a mint Survivor set complete with lug nuts a couple years ago and Happy to have them (pure 60's stuff from a great car era). PS - Those tires are very cool!

They're easily worth $4,000 for the set of four.
What was the seller asking for them? |

Saw a set of 4 at the BOPC show in Kissimmee, but don't really remember them looking polished like that.
(also didn't ask price ) Would ones for an Olds be different? Or different years?

$4500. That's what I sold a set for last year. The buyer was the original engineer of the wheel-Bill Campbell. The rings and caps were flawless. The clips were new. No lugs.
Its important to have original rings. Reproductions fit poorly. Replating rings has gotten expensive. $300 and up. Wheel restoration and polishing is about $200/wheel. Last edited by Andre; 10-27-2013 at 01:45 PM. |

John, As we discussed on the phone - Buy Them!
They are the Real Deal! Repros are junk and most originals have had their trim rings and caps replated with repro decals applied. You just don't see Virgin Survivor sets like these! If you pass lmk as I will buy them. Chris.

Are we sure those are GM a-body bolt pattern wheels? Is there a way to tell from the pics without measuring?

John, as I mentioned, carefully remove the caps to see the stamped serial numbers on the edge. Curious how close the numbers are grouped on the four wheels?
And "YES" this is one of the styles of finish on the spokes you could get on a HURST wheel in the mid-60's.

Being that certain style of appearance treatment - good chance all 4 are sequentially numbered. You got at least $1000 worth of just trim rings in that deal.
Congrats on finding such a nice original set of wheels. The full polished rims can be all over the place in sequence a lot of times. My set are numbered in 2 pairs. |

Back in the early '90's I had a chance to buy a cherry set of Hurst wheels for my '65. The price was $900 for the set. I thought it was a bit high and passed on the deal. Oh well!!!

I'll try an "out do" you on that one....back in the mid-80's I remember perusing a Hemmings Motor News. Guy had a set of GM Abody Hurst wheels....trim rings, centers and wheels all appearing to be in pretty nice original condition (I don't think he had lugnuts). Called the guy, I believe he was in N Carolina, and he even sent me a pic of them. Still have the pic tacked up on the garage wall....one of those Polaroid camera pics where you snapped the pic and the picture ejected out of the front/bottom slot of the camera.
He was asking $600 Didn't have the spare cash at the time. Here ya go...a pic of a pic!:

Here are a few sets that I own, have a few more (sets) that did not make the photo back on that early spring day. I have owned several sets, restored many more and have a pretty decent knowledge about them. They are timeless and were way ahead of their time. Very well engineered with stunning curb appeal.
