There are some Doug's Headers floating around here in the for sale section I like my Hookers. Fit real well on my 68 firebird.
Love the video! Rich

Heddman makes a decent set that would be good for racing, 2 x 3.5 I believe. And they fit pretty good, but one tube goes around the frame.

Even to run low 10s with that size motor a 1 3/4 tube and just a 3" collector will work fine.
Primary tube lenght is not as critical a factor as people make it out to be, and alot of time shortyer tubes make for more room for less restrictive bends. Overall collector lenght is a big factor and needs to be messed with, most times a additional 15 to 18 inches will put you right in the ball park.

We run the 1&3/4x3 Heddmans on the Bird and the fit and ground clearance is good. Not sure if the 68 body/frame configuration is the same as our 69 but I would think they are real close?

Agree, my 2" round ports fit well.
Part #9159 - Stock Pontiac D-port heads, 1 3/4" x 1 7/8" step primaries, 3 1/2" collectors, auto and 4 speed. $475. And it looks like they fir inside the frame.

X3...Give Mark a call. I'm very pleased with the 2" round port headers he made for me. The fit is amazing and all I had to do to get them in was remove the oil filter!

What engine? Trans , rear gear, converter? Is this a street car? Hp level? All out race?
Once you answer these question, then it's time to pick the headers. I like the fit of the headman headers. I also like the tube size options. The Mad Dog headers are built well, not sure on the fit. Good luck. |

Another vote for Mad Dogs. I've had 3 sets, great headers. Mark is awesome to deal with.
