Default Car Names

Just wondering how many of you have given a name for your car. Would like to see the name and what car and maybe the reason for the name.

Probably most of us old car enthusiast have a common name for our car. Money Pit.
With this beautiful fall we're having here in the Northeast I've been driving old Money Pit nearly everyday and enjoying the hell out of it.

I've always like the Immigrant Song by Led Zeplin....
The line..... "The Hammer of the Gods, drives our ships to new lands...."
I figured the Hammer of the Gods (Thor's hammer) was an appropriate term for a 455, so if I was naming my car, I'd call it "Mjollnir", which is the name of Thor's hammer.

Better than some tacky wench's name, lol.

Only one - Lucy.

The others are always referred to by color - the white car, the red car, the green car etc..

My 66 Lemans I call Ruby for obvious reasons and my 28 speedster I call "Buntline Special" after a neighborhood car I knew of growing up.

Having two 68's verts. you can't just say "I'm gonna take the 68" or "I'm gonna take the vert". Red car/white car doesn't work as we have other cars in those colors as well. So, somewhere along the line we began calling the white 350 HO vert. simply "the HO". Makes for some interesting sayings ..."Dad's out in the garage fiddling around with the HO" or "my husband enjoys spending a lot of time on the weekends with his HO" or Can't wait for warm weather so I can show my school friends the HO, with her top down ;-)"
It goes on and on like that.................

Im a little leary about giving the Bird a name. Im afraid Ill "jinx" it..

Definitely not a woman's name because the car doesn't act like a woman. As well, see Leighs post!

I've never named them either - they're just the red car, the black car, or the white car. However, I do pat them on the dashboard once in a while so they know I care.

Call my Harley "Harold". The day I brought it home my girl who was 7 or 8 at the time was sitting on it. She says "Cool motorcycle dad." Tilts her head to the side to read what is on the tank and Says" And it's even a Harold Davidson!"

Since every woman has proclaimed my orange 69 as the 'Dukes of Hazzard" car , I had to give it a southern girl name: Bobbi Jo.

Plus, my wife calls it the "other woman".

All my cars are referred to by color and year pretty much. "The Burgundy '66" and "The Black '71" are pretty common terms around the shop. My '69 RAIV Judge is simply referred to as "The Judge" since it is pretty much the top dog around here. My father-in-law calls his "The Poncho" which is his '48 Pontiac and original high school car.

True Nicknames in general are usually derived from original content given by someone else other than the individual or owner. The only one of my cars with a true nickname is my Black '69 which was aptly coined "The Punisher" after the movie of the same name featuring a clapped out '69 GTO with a built-up engine. The nickname fits so I have embraced that one.

My 66 LeMans was just an Old Blue 66 and it turned into a name somehow. The Trans Am is just called The Trans Am. Hopefully, soon Ill be able to speak about that car in past tense too.
