Default 537 CI 4th times a charm

Well if anybody remembers me having problems with a 535 build I had done by a professional (multiple problems), It's been about 3 years and alot of money later. I needed a whole new rotating assembly, bore it .010 and custom pistons. I assembled it myself this time. Bolted on the tiger heads, the old 264-270 roller cam and my homebuilt low profile intake manifold with 1050 dom. It is still running rich and I have not optimized the timing yet, just a conservative tune until I get some street miles on it. Later this fall I'll fabricate a new sheetmetal intake with 2-800 edelbrock carbs that I hope will make an improvement. I put it on my chassis dyno and check out the results and what do you think?

Nice numbers....what's your CR,...valve lift...fuel ? Just curious..

Tigers are good..not a head slam to others..all is good.
Mine are out of box "Race heads"..not CNC ported..just port matched.
At my present lift they flowed 412....will be taking lift up to .9XX on next build.

Looks like the A/F is not that far off.
I've heard of so many tuning problems out of the e-carbs. I cant imagine running two. IMO.

The compression is 12 to 1, 185 lbs. of cranking compression cold, .799 lift at the valve, 1050 dominator, fuel is Shell pump premium with 3 gals. of 110 VP just to be safe, This is in a factory fuel tank full of fuel, so the 110 dilusion of VP is not all that great. There are 4 mufflers on it also, 2 Dynatechs at the headers, 3 1/2" exhaust pipe and 2 Borla XR-1's out the back. I did not update the run information at the top of the dyno sheet so some of it is incorrect.

60 man - Dave Wilcox ported the heads and we never flowed them but I know they flow over 420, maybe 440, I imagine he could port a little further but not alot. The port opening is 2 7/8" x 1 3/8".

Blued, I love the challange to tune carburators. Those 2 edelbrocks will tune right up and I hope to make big power with them. just hope my junk stays togrther.

Mr. Wilcox is good !! 12-1 should be easy on head gaskets.. nice flow numbers...is that at your /799 lift? Mine were flowed by Bill Cerrelli and Jack Gaydosh..
FWIW: two 4150 Holley's (950) were worth 42 HP over two modified 750 AFB's...on a Gutsram..back to back dyno pulls.
Yours a badd arse street car??..ought to fly..
Good luck...

60man, Dave actually told me the heads should flow about 440-450 but I do not know at what lift. He also said I needed a .800 lift cam because that is what it would like. So, I did not worry about the flow #'s and just followed direction.
Also, I am going with the 800 cfm edelbrocks because of packaging under the hood. I'm hoping for another 40+ HP over the single 1050. If that happens I'll just enjoy it for awhile and look for more later.
It is a street car and it probably will get a roll cage this winter.

Half-inch, yes advancing the timing will probably net some more power but for right now I am staying conservative on the tune so as not to hammer the bearings and am enjoying street driving it. This is the first high compression motor I ever had and need to learn it.I have 3.50 gears in the 9" and last week installed 255 60-15 M/T drag radials, man this thing really flys now, at least for me it does.

Brut4s, I'll be trying to make sure that most street cars see the middle picture. This car still has power steering, tilt steering, power windows, power antenna, power brakes (kinda) and full stereo system but I did pull the A/C system out.

Uh Oh, another Bird with oversized hood scoops.

I always liked the 67-8 but the 69's are looking better every day. NIce Ride!

looks the absolute dogs kahunas to me. Very similar to my '69 convertible although Mine has now been reduced to a 'built' 400 as I have had so many problems getting a 469 built over here in UK. Lots of money and bullsh*t from engine builders.

Impressive HP#s
You're gonna need some drag radials to drive the monster on the street
Love that super400 hood too !

What's up with the ft-lbs readings on that dyno sheet?
Don't see any values above about 522 ?

Wake, don't feel left out, we certainly have our engine building problems, too. Remember this is the 4th time this engine has been assembled.
