I lost the pics I took of my Lemans when I 1st saw it. I accidentally deleted all my cell phone pics. But my wife snapped this one and had it saved on her laptop. Anyway this is where I found my Lemans. The owner lived in the mountains and he had like 15-20 old cars and trucks scattered around his property. He answered a craigslist add I posted looking for a 60's-70's muscle car. I admit I wasn't looking specifically for a Pontiac, but thats how I found it. I looked at several cars, but this one looked like something I could work with. First I had to dig it out of the snow so I could get a look at it. And so I was introduced to the world of Pontiacs.

I've found many Pontiac's in many places but in most cases I was looking for them.

Not the case with the '66 Lemans. Living on RT 36 in Middletown NJ always had its advantages. Having several Pontiac's at the time and people were always stopping in asking about buying/selling.
It was sometime in 1983 that I was approached by a guy about buying a Lemans.

The funny thing was it was behind a local NAPA Auto that I dealt with for years.
I had never seen/noticed the ole gal just wasting away behind the store

I found mine under a tarp in an alley. It had been sitting there since 1988 until I bought it in November 2007. I am almost finished restoring it!

Before and after pics below. I found mine in a storage yard in 2008 getting ready to be scrapped. The guy didn't care what he had but just didn't wnt to spend the extra 80 dollars a month for the storage fees.

I bought it in April 1985 in Seagoville TX, as a donor car. Someone stole the nose piece from my other 9 @ Gross Road & LBJ, Mesquite, TX and I was going to bone the clip for my beyond-rust-bucket MD car, bought in ‘77. The car was a total pos, the reason it was to be the donor. I knew it was pretty solid, but as I dug deeper, it was 100% void of rust, minus the thick surface rust over the entire car. So the weekend project turned into an every-weekend 19 month project, installing my MD car into the shell of the TX car.

This isn’t where I found, but it was just a little before I put it on the road. The location was Seven Points, Cedar Creek, TX. I paid $150 for it and was considered the village idiot to have paid that kind of money for the car. To put things into perspective, I got hosed lamf because it was a $35 car. I finished the car (they’re never finished so you have to work with me on this one) in 1988, after installing a mega sound system.

I was in it for about $3.5k, an absolutely insane amount of money to put into a $500 car. (What I liked the best was “It will always be a $500 car!” The people who said that are the same brilliant people who are judging car shows today, always the car expert. When it comes to cars, I’m a dummy; all I know about cars is how to fix them.) Other than regular pm expenses, which included 2 replacement 350 slush boxes, the car was my only means of transportation until 1999, and the car lived uncovered and outside 24/7/365. After 1999, it still lived on the street, and I still drove it quite a bit, lots more than I do today.

In 2005, Christine became a climate-controlled garage queen, never getting a sniff of fresh air unless at a cruise or on a road trip. I don’t ‘name’ cars. My father named it Christine in ’88 because rather than die; she always came back to life, stronger than before, of course, with the help of a possessed owner. (I hate and f/ing despise the car! At 55 years old, I cannot stand it that some pofs car has dictated my life since I was 19 years old!) He also named my other 9, with my ex-wife gleefully jumping on the bandwagon. Its name was “That Godam Firebird
