Default 4 speed manual for a mid 11 sec street strip car

Will the Richmond T 10 hold up to a mid 11s street strip car. It will see mostly street action in a 68 GTO. I had a M22 behind a 455 68 firebird but you crossed your fingers everytime you dumped the clutch.

There was a special ST-10 made with hi nickle gears, steel midplate and iron case with I believe a 2.68 first gear. That would be my choice. If not one of those get one with the highest first gear like the 2.43.The lower the first gear(like a 3.42)the weaker the trans.Tom

If you didn't buy another transmission yet and want to not worry about the Munchie, buy the autogear case and iron midplate. I had those two plus the aftermarket M22 wide ratio gears and would launch my 3800 lb race weight beast at around 5-6000 rpm with and without nitrous and didn't have issues with the tranny. The clutch couldn't hold but the trans did great once I did the above mentioned upgrades. It's seen 10's in my car and with spray we dyno'd 550 ish at the back tires.

PS - obviously there's no overdrive with the Muncie so....
