Default Dash Interchange

I am working on a 70 Lemans Sport and the dash is really bad, I mean super cracked into pieces on top. I have a cover I was going to try and use but a few days ago a guy I know emailed me and said he has a nice 69 dash he would take $350 for, also has a KM speedo for export that I'd like to get my hands on but he wants $225 for it, pristine but pricey.

Anyway, will the 69 dash fit the 70? Are they the same? This is my first A body so I know very little about them.

Yep, Will bolt in and with wiring harness and all if he has it. If not the '70 dash harness will work also as it does use the same guages and heater controls. I know of one that has a '60 dash in it!

It may fit but its not going to look right. The 69 in different around the gauges than the 70. Just google dash faces for both years and you will see the difference. The 70-72 are pretty much the same, the only difference is the 72 has the word Pontiac above the glove box door.

bought my 70 with a 69 GTO dash in it. The entire unit will work. This winter I'm swapping it to the correct 70 setup though.

Doesn't he also need the glove box door? Doesn't the '70 and up have a little flare on one end that the '69 doesn't have?

sarge, on the massively cracked original dashes, one can take a razor blade & cut down the erupting areas along the big crack, then fill the crack in with expandable foam, then carve & sand it flat. it will end up giving a better structure to glue the molded dash cover to.

OPH -
Thanks for that tip. I have the same situation and the dash cover to install at some point. I intend to change the color from black to gray first, tho.
