400/tri-pwr
Hi guys, I have a 400 ci that I want to put a tri-pwr on.My question is reguarding the fuel pump and lines.I have a single line 5/16 to the sending unit,should I change to a double line(return line), or will the single line be ok.The motor is basically stock.Thanks,Tim.

Only A/C vehicles pre-67 used return line.

But I think that the years the had the tripower had 3/8 line fron the sending unit to the pump. 5/16 may work unless you really plan to race it.

All A-body Pontiacs had 5/16" line from the sender, including Tri-Power, through 1967. 1968 and later had 3/8" line.

Tri-power setups use aluminum lines and my experience is that it is good to have a return after the pump with a 0.030" orifice to bleed off some pressure to keep from boiling the lines when you shut the engine down. My tripower use to get really wet on the clusters when I shut things down. I went to a return deal and that problem went away.

return line?
Does your current gas tank have a fitting to use with a return line?

No, the sending unit is w/o the return,but I have a new gas tank,so now i'll have to change the fuel pump, sending unit and add a extra line.It sounds like thats the best way to go.Tim.
