Default 67 GTO Partial quarter panel replacement help

Hi,

I have to replace the lower panel on my left quarter panel.
Should I do a butt weld after I cut the quarter or make a crimp on the new and old panels then over lap and weld them?

Thanks
Jack

Butt weld, using small tack welds an inch or so apart, then gradually fill in the gaps to minimize warping. At least this method has worked for me, although some may offer different advice.
