Hi
Is there a difference in the rear seat between coupe & conv? PY lists them separately in their catalog but I have both and cant tell the difference. ![]()

To my knowledge they are the same width in the Firebird. Camaro hardtop rear seats are wider since they dont have the armrests the firebirds do.

There are 2 different rear seats that I'm aware of, the deluxe rear and the standard rear. The deluxe rear seat is not as wide as the standard rear seat. I think the convertible uses the deluxe rear seat. This is because of the additional space used by the convertible frame when it is down. Most likely the reason they are listed separately is because of a difference in the material that is needed.

So basically, youre saying that a deluxe rear seat from a coupe will fit a convertible but a standard rear seat from a coupe won't?
..and that the standard interior rear seat in a conv is skinned on a deluxe frame?

That is my understanding and the fold down rear seat with a standard interior is a deluxe frame bottom skinned in standard skin.

All of the firebird rear seats are the narrow ones. The Camaro coupes use the wide ones.

Mr. Schab is correct. fgf's all have the narro seat. Deluxe or standard interior, makes no difference.
but if you own one of those "other cars" ('Maro) then you have to deal with the different seat widths. Just goes to show you how Pontiac was thinking ahead. Many fgf rear seats are being scooped up by 'Maro owners because they are hard to find. |

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't realize that all FGF's had the narrow seat but that explains a lot. One of the reasons why I prefer the 'bird.

yeah, thanks!
Atleast now I know I've got the correct seat & can now sell the extra one. ![]() I mean, it fits perfect, but the PY catalog got me worried. ![]() ..and I've learnt one more reason (there's gotta be atleast 50) why birds are better than crapmaros ![]() Infact, I think I'm gonna start a new thread to list all the reasons. ![]()
