Default So, who has a Roku?

I know it's been mentioned a couple times. I ordered one last weekend, it came in Thursday so I've been setting it up, adding channels etc. Just wanted to see who else was in on this and how you like it.

Default Better question

What is it? Hope that modern medicine is on top of this. It sounds deadly as hell, like some Indonesian junk that's going around.

I saw their website and I wonder what this gives me if I already have cable TV and a WII?

If I could record one channel while watching another it may be worth it.

Arbys, once you buy it you don't have to pay unless you want certain channels, so I'd say it's better than cable in that aspect. I don't use my Wii for online(haven't vene used it in years) but I use my XBox, and the Roku gives me more choices. over 300 channels.

So you're saying that if I just wanted the Speed channel I could get just that 1 channel?

My sister sent me one. If its a pay channel or service you pay. If its free then its free to you. It has a good amount of offering and consolidates everything to the Roku box that they service. My sister has managed to get away from cable. I on the other hand live in a TV junkie house and am as guilty as most living here so I apy Comcast and Roku.

Bought one about a year ago. Hook it up to your tv which picks up internet signal, access netflix and, watch 25,000 + movies for $8.00 a month. I think its the greatest thing since sliced white bread and then some....

Arbys, speed isn't on there yet. There's something that I downloaded called playon, that connects to the Roku and they have stuff from Comedy Central, History and a few others. Hoping Speed is soon. We got rid of cable. Didn't make sense. My wife and I both play video games, we'd watch like a half hour-hour of TV a night then take turns playing games, and a few hours of TV on the weekend. Couldn't justify $80 + for a couple hours a week. As goldeneyee said, Netflix and a few other things make it fine for us, the Roku gives more options, and I'm sore a lot more in the future.

As soon as Speed and Velocity is available on one of these devices, I'll ditch my cable.

I've got a ROKU. I like it. Still not enough content to get rid of my FIOS yet, but it's getting there. I like putting it on Pandora while I'm working around the house or on my car. To me, that alone makes it worth it.

My wife and I would like to move in this direction and ditch our cable. However we need some sports coverage. If Roku has ESPN, ESPN 2, and the Big Ten Network we are in. Last I understood, those are not available.

It would be so nice to have a service that is ala carte that would allow you to select what you want in your package. Sounds like Roku is getting there.

Mike I got one, my wife got it a few months ago. It seems to work better than the apple TV even after we hacked it with boxee and xbox software. We got rid of cable 4 years ago and just have netflix now. Some of the TED talks and MIT channels are pretty cool.

We got rid of satellite service a couple of years back and then got a Roku about a year ago. We watch Netflix movies on it in HD and subscribe to MLB.com to watch our Diamondbacks games. We don't watch much of the free stuff, but it's nice not having a cable or satellite bill and paying for only by what I want. Now, if they would only get the NFL games...............maybe this year. This is the way of the future. Cable and satellite force you to get hundreds of channels you'll never watch, but they're cutting their own throats in the long run.

It does have ESPN and ESPN 3 but I haven't been on them yet

I loaded the MIT channels but haven't watched them yet either. We have Netflix & I just got a free month of Amazon Prime, so we've been messing around with those mostly. Also there's a channel you can add that does the local channels(CBS, Fox etx) but they're in Pa. BUT to just watch network shows(not the news obviously lol) it works.

I quit watching any network TV at all, and I never have liked sports unless some sort of fuel is involved.

I like that I can control it with the android app too, so if I lose the remote my phone works.

Some of the crackle movies are pretty good, we watched "the gods must be crazy" last night, Netflix only has "the gods must be crazy II". Love those movies from when I was a kid.

The MIT open course is nice, the electricity and magnetism course is next in line for me to watch. The only TED talk I have watched on the roku so far was a good one on the Cyrus cylinder.

Hit me up on facebook if you find anything real good that has drag racing or muscle cars. I would love a channel about racing R&D and hot rod documentary's.
