Talking Drag racing knows no bounds, even the Amish do it lol

http://www.examiner.com/strange-news...racing-buggies

You can’t blame kids for wanting to have a little fun on a Sunday night, and Amish youth are no different from other kids these days. MSNBC is reporting that four Amish youth were arrested for drag racing their buggies on the road, and then crashed into a police car while they were allegedly drinking booze.

Deputies were dispatched to the town of Sherman in upstate New York on Sunday night responding to complaints about the youths drinking and drag racing their horse and carriages on the road, said Chautauqua County Sheriff Joseph Gerace.

When police arrived, the kids had two buggies staged on the road ready to drag race, and each was taking up a lane of traffic. “One of the buggies tried to shift out of the way when a patrol car came and ended up crashing into it," Gerace said. "These Amish kids were racing their buggies up and down the street,"

Four Amish youths, aged 18 to 20, were charged with underage possession of alcohol after they crashed their buggy into a deputy's car.

The police report from the crash scene, said one of the buggies flipped over and the horse broke free, running off to a nearby barn. Several other buggies reportedly fled the scene.

It appears police in this area of New York seem to have an ongoing problem with the Amish youth. This is the second of two buggying and driving incidents in the same general area in the past 8 months. Last year, a 17-year-old led a patrol car on a low-speed chase after the cop saw him drinking beer and driving his buggy.

Maybe police need to start a new ad campaign in western New York, “Friends don’t let friends drink and drag race buggies.”

That would be a lot of fun to watch. Maybe we can get them listed with the NHRA

Now, we always have to point this out:

If this happened on the street than it was street racing, not drag racing.

Drag racing is an official, sanctioned event at a safe and moderated facility.

(lol)

They actually race up and down the road late at night In Lower Delaware. There is a small community of Amish people there. They race on two lane roads but I never seen them get caught.
