Exclamation Mass bill S.661 "Self Defense Bill"

I hope the mods leave this here, I want more people to see it and act on it. We need people to email our idiots in office to pass this bill. It's basically so you can protect yourself and family in your own house and property. If people could email them for me, we need them to be contacted so that we can get it passed and not have to deal with the b.s. of being sued when some whacked out junkie is trying to rob you. My letter is below and all their emails are beneath that.

Hello,

I hope you all vote the right way on this bill. People need to be able to defend themselves. The police can't be everywhere to stop crimes, only to investigate after the fact except in rare circumstances. This bill IS the difference between life and death for some people, and the criminals need to stop being put over law abiding citizens in this state. We need the protection to know that we aren't going to be sued for protecting our family, our property and ourselves from some junkie with weapons on him(i.e. Anthony McKay in Swampscott). Remember, more people than ever are paying attention to politics, and more people than ever are voting. It's not the criminals that vote you in, and you do work for the taxpayers.

Regards

Mike

It is a sad day to realize the need to LEGISLATE protecting yourself in your own home. The fact that trespassers have more rights than the tresspassed makes no sense to me.

I had posted in the CH a couple months ago a story that was going on here. A guy(you can Google Anthony McKay) went outside with his wife and kid and saw a local known junkie breaking into his truck. He confronted him, the junkie had a knife and another weapon on him. Anthony broke the guys jaw. Cops showed up and arrested the junkie. Also told him at the same time that he could press charges on McKay. It was a big deal, the guy I listen to on the radio was going to stage a protest at the courthouse and all. Charges were finally dropped. The criminals have more rights than the law abiding citizens in Mass, including our convoluted gun laws. If you don't have an LTC Class A, but have something less(like you can transport to shoot at the range) and you get caught in the car with the gun not in a lockbox in the trunk, you get arrested for it. If you're not licensed and you have a gun on you the same way, they don't charge you for that. Ugh...

Mikey,

Good luck!! Thank God Connecticut has "castle doctrine". Still, I would much rather be back in Indiana where self-defense is a constitutionally guaranteed right!

Indiana passed the Stand Your Ground or Castle Doctrine Law back in 2006 and was signed by Gov. Mitch Daniels.

Indiana is a great state for Pro gun laws. Good Luck in Mass. passing it.

This same battle is raging in Minnesota also.

http://www.startribune.com/politics/...140229353.html

The people of the state want this overwhelmingly. Police chiefs (political appointments) do not but the OVERWHELMING majority of regular officers support it.

We're hopeful!

68gtoMN,

We've had that same law in Indiana for years. Our crime associated with firearms problems are with "gang banger" killing each other in the inner cities of Indy,Ft Wayne and Gary!!

Yeah, it's definitely a bad thing when the scumbag robber stopped so the cops could catch him. He should have gotten away so he could break into another house

Yet, I'm sure if those same cops that summonsed the old man shot a warning shot in the air, you'd be fine with it.

if they were following the law then yes i would
the key word is what the law is.
you can if it to death with what if's but the bottom line is you cant break the law in order to enforce or protect.

If the old man broke the law by shooting in thge air to stop the robber, wouldn't the cops be breaking the same law?

I would like to think you are aware they work for us. Oh wait, they can speed when and where they want, with no sirens. They can carry in Mass no problem and get newer guns without having to jump through hoops like we do. Oh yeah, and they can shoot someone or beat someone up that they deem a threat, but we can't. Oh yeah, and they can use a computer while driving, but the ruling class doesn't want us to talk on a cell phone while driving. Because adults can't have a conversation and drive. Yup. Glad everyone on the public payroll has more rights than us.

YOU say it wasn't necessary. Would it have been better if the old man shot the guy instead of a warning shot? Do you think it would have been better if the 21 year old got away? What if the next house he broke into he raped someone? When a legal gun owner stops a crime and protects himself or someone else, he shouldn't get in trouble for it. And my questions weren't off the wall. Cops aren't above the law, even though they act like it sometimes(obviously not all of them, I've known quite a few good ones)
