Default Chem strip and now what????

I am sanding a 65 gto to remove paint in prep to repaint. In areas where sanding is not feasible, I am using a chem stripper from O'Rileys. What do I need to do in order to insure no chemical stripper is left on the metal that might affect adhesion of epoxy primer and ultimately ,paint.

Make sure you really really really clean all seams and overlaps.
Chemical strip will come back to haunt you.
Off gas bubbles are a B!TCH.

A lot of ways to skin a cat, so everyone has a different method.
This is how I've done it for years. Lots of steps but it has not failed me.
I follow chemical stripping with a scotch brite pad and soapy water rinse. Then dry off and wipe down with PPG DX579 (acid) and wipe that off with a cloth/towel soaked in thinner. DA sand with 80 grit and another thinner cloth wipe down. Then I spray with PPG DP epoxy primer.
If I can't do all of that the same day, I stop after the DX579 application. That leaves a protective coating that will preserve the metal.

From ThirdGen.org site...
"Here's a tip to anyone painting their own car. Everyone will tell you that you can't prime over bare metal- you have to use "metal conditioner." I bought some at the body shop supply place today (along with $350 of other stuff) and came home to wipe it over the bare metal. As soon as I open the bottle of DuPont Kwik Prep 244S I notice it looks and smells exactly like rubbing alcohol. I check the label (in super-small print)--- contains: isopropyl alcohol, water. That's it. I paid $18.95 for a quart of rubbing alcohol (available at WalMart for 49 cents)."
Is this true?

You REALLY need to refer to the product information sheets for WHATEVER EPOXY YOU ARE USING!!

Why?? Because some epoxies specifically call for application over BARE METAL with no metal preps.

Or....what epoxy are you spraying??

I've used rubbing alcohol too. Especially after sand blasting. Seems to leave no residue and is inexpensive. Don't know if it's the same as 'metal conditioner' though.
