We have something similar to that here in Pa. Usually 2 weekends every month from May to Oct.

If its street legal, you can race it.Cost $25 and run as many times as you want and who want.

It is held at a local airport as is very popular. In fact the airport repaved it twice last year to make it more racer friendly. They also added grandstands for spectators.

This year they are planning to put in a concrete pad for burnouts and starting line.

All races are heads-up,no time slips first one to trip the win light wins.

These races are called Flashlght Drags. 'Street racing without the jailtime'.

I love it!

Too bad insurance companies and lawyers make this pretty much impossible here...

I assume from the traction problems that on a properly prepped track the outcome would likely have been different for many of the racers.

Very true, but the end result is the same.

As an example, we used to have semi-truck drags here, right up a hill on the main street. Was a great event, brought in lots of people and $$$ to our small town of 5000 people, but the cost of liability insurance kept going up until the organizers could not afford it anymore... and to my knowledge there had never been an accident or claim related to the event.

I'm moving to Sweden!!
